William Kelly Pioneer Osgoode Resident Dies

Monday, April 20, 1942

A pioneer resident of Osgoode, William Kelly died on Monday at his residence on the River Road, in his 82nd year following an illness of several months.

Mr. Kelly was born at Osgoode and farmed there until his illness last December. He was the son of the late Patrick Kelly and his Wife, the late Margaret McEvoy. His wife, the former Margaret Reardon, predeceased him in 1917. Mr. Kelly was a devout parishioner of St. Brigid’s Church, the River Road, and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Surviving are five sons, Austin, at home; Andrew, Lambert, Edwin and Martin, all of Ottawa; three daughters, Clara, at home, Mabel, South Gloucester, and Mrs. Patrick Shields, Osgoode; two brothers, James and Joseph, Ottawa; three sisters, Rev. Sister St. Columbkille, Montreal; Mrs. B. Laplant, Ottawa; Mrs. Martin Reardon, Osgoode. Rev. Sister St. Augustine is a niece and Rev. Father Gerald Kelly, is a nephew.

The body is resting at the late residence, the River Road, from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9.45 a.m. to St. Brigid’s Church for requiem high mass at ten o’clock. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
